The English bulldog is a medium sized very compact dog. Short legs complement their very wide frame. Their bodies are massive giving them the appearance of strength and power. They have layers of extra skin on both the skull and forehead; a feature many bulldog fans find endearing. The muzzle is wide and pug with a deep stop. Large nostrils are set on their black nose, with dark deep-set eyes to match. Their small thin ears are set high on their head. Their jaws on the other hand are massive, broad and square with droopy upper lips. A pronounced mandibular prognathism help create a distinguished strong appearance. The folds of skin around their mouth are referred to as “rope”. Their teeth are meant to have an under bite. Their coat is short, smooth and strait. Their glossy coat can be different shades, including: red brindle, white, fawn, red, piebald, pale yellow or any combination of these colors. Bulldogs are one of the rare breeds whose tails are naturally short and curled without any external interference.
